Liverpool Wedding Photography at Oh Me Oh My
Rachael and Liam’s fun-filled wedding in Liverpool
I’ve been doing this long enough now that I’m starting to do quite a lot of weddings where the bride or groom is a close friend or relative of one of my previous brides and grooms. And it’s an amazing feeling, turning up to the house in the morning and everyone knows who you are and is pleased to see you again – it definitely takes the edge off the nerves that I have before every wedding.
Turning up to Rachael’s house in the morning of this wedding was something totally different though. I didn’t feel like an old acquaintance or that-photographer-they-know. This family have a way of making you feel like one of them. Like a brother or a best mate. Just the best feeling ever. Rachael was one of the bridesmaids at Caroline and Dan’s Peckforton Castle wedding, and basically if you have any connection to Caroline and Dan, then you’re one of the earth’s finest humans. It’s official. When Rachael and Liam asked me to be their wedding photographer, I may have done a little dance of celebration. Don’t tell anyone though, I don’t want to ruin my uber cool street cred.
I also had one of my closest friends Michael Jackson as my wingman for this wedding, just as he had been for Caroline and Dan’s. We were treated like kings all day. But the funniest moment of the day – and possibly of my career – was when Rachael’s sister cut her finger just before Rachael had to put the dress on. This got Michael instantly promoted to official dress fastener, a moment I know he’ll never forget. Just hilarious!
The rest of the day was just a sea of smiles and chorus of laughter. The weather was perfect for their drinks reception smack bang in Liverpool City Centre, overlooked by the Royal Liver Building and then them and their guests wandered over to Oh Me Oh My for the dinner and party. So chilled, so brilliant.
One of my favourite photos and favourite moments of this wedding was during the first dance. Everyone was well lubricated by this point and once Rachael and Liam invited everyone onto the dance floor, it went mental. I was getting shunted and bumped and stood on and I couldn’t get a good shot so I ran as fast as I could up the stairs to the balcony, just as Liam lifted Rachael above his head. I’m so happy that my instincts told me to bail on the dance floor and go upstairs!
Enough of my waffling, enjoy these few from Rachael and Liam’s wedding day…
